สงขลายืนหนึ่งในประเทศไทย อันดับ 3 ในเอเซีย และอันดับที่ 34 ของโลกในฐานะเมืองไมซ์ที่มุ่งเน้น “การพัฒนาอย่างยั่งยืน” จาก Global Destination Sustainability Index (GDS-Index 2024) ผ่าน 4 ตัวชี้วัด คือ สิ่งแวดล้อมของเมือง (City Environmental Performance) สังคมของเมือง (City Social Performance) ความสามารถของการให้บริการ (Supplier Performance) และการจัดการจุดหมายปลายทาง (Destination Management Performance) โดยจังหวัดสงขลาได้คะแนนรวมทั้งสิ้น 74.89 คะแนน
จากรายงานของ GDS-Index พบว่าในทวีปเอเซีย อันดับที่ 1 ประเทศสิงคโปร์ อันดับที่ 2 เมืองโกยาง ประเทศเกาหลีใต้ และอันดับที่ 3 จังหวัดสงขลา ประเทศไทย
ดัชนีความยั่งยืนของจุดหมายปลายทางในระดับโลก หรือ The Global Destination Sustainability Index (GDS-Index) เป็นโครงการจัดอันดับเมืองที่เป็นจุดหมายปลายทางด้านการจัดงานที่มีความเป็นเลิศในเรื่อง “การพัฒนาอย่างยั่งยืน”GDS-Index ถูกสร้างขึ้นในปี 2015 โดย 15 ประเทศในยุโรปและสแกนดิเนเวีย ภายใต้การสนับสนุนจากสมาคมส่งเสริมการประชุมนานาชาติ หรือ International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) โดยปัจจุบันบริหารงานโดยพันธมิตรหลัก 4 องค์กร คือ International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA), MCI Group, IMEX และ European Cities Marketing (ECM) ซึ่งเป็นองค์กรชั้นนำระดับโลกในอุตสาหกรรมไมซ์Songkhla named Thailand’s most sustainable MICE destination, third in Asia, and 34th in the world as a MICE city focused on “sustainable development”, according to the Global Destination Sustainability Index (GDS-Index 2024). This ranking is based on four indicators: City Environmental Performance, City Social Performance, Supplier Performance, and Destination Management Performance. Songkhla achieved a total score of 74.89 points.According to the GDS-Index report, in Asia, Singapore ranked first, Goyang City in South Korea ranked second, and Songkhla Province in Thailand ranked third.The Global Destination Sustainability Index (GDS-Index) is a project that ranks cities recognized for their excellence in “sustainable development” within the MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conventions, and Exhibitions) sector.The GDS-Index was established in 2015 by 15 countries in Europe and Scandinavia, with the support of the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA). It is currently managed by four key partner organizations: ICCA, MCI Group, IMEX, and European Cities Marketing (ECM), all of which are leading global organizations in the MICE industry.
